A book on stroke recovery techniques for family and friends of stroke victims A Stroke in the Family
"This excellent book is full of very useful information for stroke survivors and their families."
Paula De Souza, Stroke Information Services Manager, The Stroke Association.
“It is a manual for the friends and family of all stroke patients everywhere.”
Roald Dahl
“Perhaps the most important message that I have taken from this book is that we should not be relying on professional therapists to provide all the treatment that is needed."
Dr Anthony Rudd, Stroke Physician, Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospital and Clinical Director for Stroke Action London.
In the 1960's Val Eaton Griffith designed a series of simple, interactive techniques to help Patricia Neal, the celebrated actress and wife of author Roald Dahl, to make an almost full recovery after a series of massive strokes.
Her success resulted in a full mail bag of requests for details and help, and she wrote this book in 1970. It led to the creation of national volunteer schemes which are still in existence; and to today's Stroke Association.
She was awarded the MBE in the Birthday Honours List, 1977.
Now, David Worsley of East Kent Strokes has with kind permission of the author republished the original book and updated it with links to Stroke organisations.
